Chartered Security Professionals go through a rigorous application process, where their strategic impact and competencies in security knowledge, practical application, communication, leadership and personal commitment are verified by at least three independent assessors. This includes a professional interview.

Once admitted to the Register of Chartered Security Professionals, each CSyP must complete annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to an agreed standard, pay an annual fee and agree to adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct. This is verified in January each year. Retired CSyPs who are no longer practising are exempt from annual CPD and pay a reduced annual fee.
